The title track, "I Got a Secret..." includes some humorous banter between Guzio and Niewood regarding the trumpeter's receding hairline, and Guzio's sultry flugelhorn playing on the opening of "Moon Storm" is simply breathtaking.       Review from Cadence Magazine: Gary Guzio's Quintet album "I Got Secret" available on this site, features Gerry Niewood, Sarah Jane Cion, Phil Palombi, and Darryl Pellegrini. In a recent review in 'Cadence' magazine Nate Dorward writes: "I Got a Secret offers smart, no-nonsense mainstream Jazz from a trumpeter who's mostly stayed out of the limelight. Gary Guzio and his partner here, saxophonist Gerry Niewood, were part of Gerry Mulligan's Concert Jazz Orchestra in the 1980's; they work with a close understanding that is evident right from their opening unison and overlapping solos on the lead-off track "Goozes Blooze"; When they pull a couple tunes out of Mulligan's book--"Line for Lyons" and "Western Reunion"--they dispatch them with real spirit and authenticity. The rhythm section is led by the fine pianist Sarah Jane Cion; her solos are impressively well judged, distinguished by a graceful clarity of outline that does without excess sweetening or frills. On one number, the lush trumpet/piano duet "The Very Thought of You," Jonathan Markow takes over the keyboard; it's one of the albums highlights.....the tunes are often attractive...Good studio sound too.
